TOUR GUIDE - TOP END EXPLORER TOURS – Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory

Top End Explorer Tours ( www.topendexplorertours.com ) is a small family-owned tour company situated in Jabiru, Kakadu National Park. We take pride in sharing our knowledge about Aboriginal culture and the diverse ecosystems of the region with our passengers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, fit and active person with excellent people skills to join our team as a Tour Guide for this coming dry season.
Your role will be to take small groups of visitors to some of the key visitor sites in World-heritage listed Kakadu National Park on a full day tour, to accommodate and educate our clients providing accurate information on Kakadu National Park, its natural and cultural values, enhancing the visitors’ experiences while in the region.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

-> Cert. III Tour Guiding “Kakadu Knowledge for Tour Guides”
-> Senior First Aid certificate
-> Current Northern Territory driver’s licence, with “H” endorsement and a clean driving record *
-> Must also have an interest in and sensitivity towards other cultures
-> Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
-> Responsible and mature attitude
-> Good health and fitness level
-> Applicants must be 25 years or older (for insurance reasons) **

Full training will be provided to suitable applicants.
Staff accommodation provided. ***


DESIRABLE

-> Previous experience in the tourism industry, tour guiding
-> Ability to safely operate a 4WD
-> Previous knowledge of the area


CASUAL EMPLOYMENT

Training for Tour Guides will commence ASAP.
You will be required to be available for the entire season from June to October.

* In order to obtain a N.T. Drivers licence with H endorsement, you require a recent Criminal history check with your driving record, and a medical check.

** The Kakadu Knowledge for Tour Guide (Vet) course is now compulsory for all guides seeking employment in Kakadu. We can help you obtain this through our training.

*** We have limited accommodation available, but we'd be able to secure a site at one of the caravan parks in Jabiru for a small weekly rate for those with a caravan.
