Always use heavy duty extension leads. These are the ones with thicker insulation and larger conductors.

Light duty leads, usually white in colour and no thicker than a biro, are designed to lay on the floor behind the couch at home not outside suspended in the weather then rolled up and thrown in a locker.

Also the overload of the socket you plug into at the caravan park is rated at 15 Amps while these smaller leads are rated at no more than 10 Amps. The danger is a small size lead will be overloaded by at least 50% before the circuit breaker trips.
