Another 2.8/3.0lt nissan question
Submitted: Wednesday, Jan 01, 2003 at 00:00
Craig
I there any way to soup up a 2.8lt to preform like a 3.0td ?
I`m concidering upgrading to one of these vehicles but having trouble justifing the 10 - 15 grand price differance between the two.
At a fraction of the above price will power up modules or turbo kits cut the mustard ?
Any
feedback
will be welcome?
P.S have concidered 4.2td but again price is the issue.
Regards
Craig.

replied: Would be good if there was a way to get your 2.8 to perform even close to a 3.0TD, but no such luck. 110/116kw is a lot of power out of a 3.0TD. Makes the 71kw out of my 2.8 look lean, but for what I use it for it is fine.

replied: Motsons in Qld quote some miracle figures on the 2.8, but just dont bother. extra stress on the motor car etc, its still not a 3.0..
The cost is not a saving in the end, if you cant afford a 3.0 at the moment, just wait and save your coin... Its worth it..
Bloke in our club got a DX 4.2 GU with 60,000 on it for $32.000 which I think is cheap... Not an ex mines or anything like that either, hes already done 2 desert trips in it since gettin it in September!

replied: There is a chip called a "piggy back chip" that can be fitted at a cost of about $900 or there abouts. It modifies the signals sent to the management computer and the engine porforms better. It will never be as powerful as the 3.0 l diesel which I hear is a Renault bus engine and has been around for a while in Europe.
Not much help I know but nothing beats cubic inches.
