Coffs Harbour Visit

Brad and His Disco

Anyone know of any tracks that could be explored for about half a day around the coffs harbour area. Any sights to see except for porpoise pool.
It was time for a change

We stay at Lakeside Caravan Park at Woolgoolga.
Quite Beach and great people.
They have cabins through to Tent sites right on the beach.
2 good trips we have done
a. head up the Beligen Valley (bitumen) then after dorrigo there is an old signpost on right (forrest drive) takes you down ,north to the nimboda river where they raft and good camp or lunch spot, then track continues east out towards where Russel Crowe lives and then onto the Pacific Highway near Woolgoolga. You will need to drop into the forrestry department at the tree walk on top of the range to get a map or ask at vistors centre. not difficult 4 wheel drive but may need a day.
b. must visit - Yuraguir National Park into Pebble Beach take southern entrance approx 20 odd kms into camp ground and then short run up the beach say 5 kms to a picture perfect bay and camp ground, also can do a run south down to Redrock, Also do the run into Redrock from main access road for a great swim in the river as the tide floats you up and down the river.

If you mean from where the track first enters the beach, well, to late!! NPWS has now said NO to that! Change happened a few months back. Our club made submisissions as well as other peaople and groups when the 'disscussion paper' was released but NPWS had already made up their minds.

Also, they have plans for the camping area too, limiting the number of people camping to a maximum of 30 I believe, forcing the campers into bays with treated pine fences around them - whether camper trailers will fit or not is a closely guarded secret, baning camp fires altogether, no camping at the southern end of Pebble Beach, the tracks to Freshwater beach that were "temporarily closed for maintenance" will never re-open and I also believe that eventually they will say that the popularity of camping at Pebble is having a detrimental
effect on the enviroment and ban camping altogether!!!! as they have done elsewhere in OUR national parks! Ironic really, NPWS make access to these areas easy and often 2wd and then gripe about people using the areas.

National parks for the people - hardly.

We haved camped at Corindi camp ground (Just NTH of Woolgoolga) Awsome campsite with great veiws. As for driving...head west out of Corindi into Arrawarra state forest. Hundreds of kilometres of tracks of all standards. Vews from the top of the range are second to none.

G'day Brad,

About 1km north of the big banana is a road heading west (Bruxner Park Rd). Go up there about 2kms to saddle. Magic views over ocean all the way up. At top of saddle you can turn left (bitumen rd) and head to Bruxner Park lookout, over Coffs. Alternatively turn left onto dirt fire trail called Rover Trail. It follows ridgeline all the way around the Kororo Valley, is in bush all the way but has spectacular views again over ocean. Good fun 4wding, not scary. Follow Rover Trail around to Gaudrons Rd, Sapphire. 100 yds down there turn left into Settlers Forest Rd, head north to Bucca Rd etc. You can follow these tracks all the way to Corindi. There are plenty of tracks around that area. A topo map or forestry map will show you. All nice country, enjoyable driving.
