SHUDDER IN JACK
Submitted: Wednesday, Sep 01, 2004 at 11:07
Baz (NSW)
A friend of mine has a 2002 manual Jackaroo petrol with 35,000Ks and he has a bad shudder when he takes off, he has been to the dealer and other mechanics and nobody seems to want, or know what the problem is one guy said it was normal for that model, my thought was a pressure plate clutch plate prob if anyone has any idea's would be greatful.

I'd guess it's a clutch problem, but engine/transmission mounts should also be investigated.
A 2002 will still be under warranty so if he gets no joy from the dealer, he should escalate directly to Holden Customer Service.

I agree with Savvas..
Sounds like an issue they CBF lookin for.
Drop car off at Holden, and dont accept it back until its fixed.
If dealer says its normal, ask to test drive 2 others out of the yard BRAND NEW. see if they do it.
Did the car he test drove do it?

I have a late 2001 Jack and I have had similar prob, but only rarely did it happened.Took the car to Holden and wouldn't pick it up until they fixed it, think your on the money with it beening a clutch prob.
Response from the same question from the
forum
31 July 2003.
Peter, this a huge and common problem with the Pet Jacks, my father has a lease plan one and his mate at the same company does too, both have the shudder prob. Holden knows about it and they are both having the clutches replaced under warranty. The lease plan vehicle my father had before that also had the prob, not as severe but was rotated before solving the problem. Get onto Holden and make them admit liability then get them onto it, I would be asking for a new clutch and flywheel machined first up! Do you have the 5th gear whine as well?? Again Holden knows about this too, so get em onto that too, there is an insulation fix to deaden the noise. Aparently it is not detremental, just annoying! Goodluck, Matt.

You may have hit it when Peter was making changes to the site theme. You do already have a post in there.
If you want, have a chat to Peter about getting an Explorer

going.

replied: Yep as others have said, it is a known problem with late model jacks - holden have replaced heaps under warranty , it is a matter of playing the game with the holden dealer, ask for the phone number of the warranty rep and give them some curry as well as they are the ones that screw the dealers and make it a misery for them to do warranty work. My thoughts are that it is a finger pressure or height mismatch issue with the pressure plate, but get them to have the flywheel properly machined and faced as well. Push hard and he will get a new clutch, plenty of others have.
