Skytreks very good.....Do It!
Self guided "tours" at Arkaroola are scarce but you can go along on a Ridge Top Tour in their vehicles.
Rawnsley Park also has some Treks. Check their Web site.
Waraweena is another spot.

A very interesting part of the planet- and I would recommend their Ridge Top trip.

As Troop-a dour said, Echo Camp Back Track is a good drive as is Mt Jacob Back Track, Yudnumutuna Gorge, Sir Dominic Mine and many other day drives around Arkaroola.
The Gammon Range is also a good drive with good
camping
in front of Grindell's Hut.

The kids have decided
Skytrek
is a 'must' again.
Slave has decided that Echo Camp Track and Jacobs Track is a must for the third time. We have been to the
Paralana Hot Springs
, but felt that once was enough for us.
When hanging a right at Yunta do stop at the old hotel ruins ( Waukaringa ), well worth a look

We're headed to the Flinders for the Victorian school hols and intend to do
Skytrek
on the 18th or 19th of Sept. Current plan for camp stops is
Quorn
,
Wilpena
, Chambers Gorge, Arkaroola and
Warraweena
with various treks/ruins/mines along the way over the 2 weeks. Happy to do some of the treks with company if our paths cross (advantage/disadvantage is we have 2 boys 6 & almost 10 who are always on the
lookout
for other kids!!)

Just thought I should warn you both in case you haven't been there before....flies.
They come out at about 7.30am and disappear at night. Aeroguard seems to attract them. We found driving while eating lunch to be a good solution and will be taking flynets over our hats this time.
YMMV

His place is about 6ks South of
Blinman
- Angorichina's a great little spot to stay there too - say hello to Dave for me.
Can either be self-drive or guided.
Tell him John sent you, if you're enquiring.

I did
Skytrek
a couple of weeks ago. We usually do it several times a year and I must say, the track is getting very chopped up. I bottomed out a few times on the last trip, so I guess it's a bit more of a challenge than it use to be, but still very worth while.

We went to the flinders for a few weeks last year at a similar time. Thorougly enjoyed the place. Much of our trip is written up in a club project available at the link below.
Of the five drives completed on our trip, we rated this one as Number 4, beaten by the Arkapena Scenic Adventure, Mt Samuel Experience and Eco Camp Back Track.
Great place and lots to explore. We found two weeks still left a good deal out, some of the earlier posts mantioned
places
that we did not have sufficient time for.

Full listing of
Skytrek
general comments is :
This is the original and probably most driven of these private
4WD treks
in the
Flinders Ranges
region.
Skytrek
comes with extensive guide notes which detail geological and biological information. The trek covers a diverse range of terrain and ecosystems. The trip requires low range and reasonable clearance - with these attributes met it is a relatively easy drive, graded as a LRCACT 'C' standard trip (ie Moderate with some sections requiring caution).
Skytrek
is worth doing. However, on a windy day the
lookout
atop Mr Caernarvon will blow you away (literally)! The trek can be booked directly with
Willow Springs
Station or at
Wilpena
Tourist Centre. You must start the trek by 10:30am. Clubs should book directly with
Willow Springs
and request the club trip discount.
Camping
and
accommodation
is available on the
Willow Springs
property. There are camp sites along the trek. Bookings are essential for all activities.

If you take the SA link, most of what you see will relate to the Flinders as I collected on our trip last year.
leme know if your particulary intersted in any particular entry and I should be able to find more detail.

All good info here.
We have done Sky Treck 3 x. A must do, great scenery and good drive.
We will be up there at the end of Sept to early Oct (over the long weekend) so if you are there then may be able to make contact. We are staying at
Willow Springs
(where Skyteck is).
If you wish to contact me on my email, I have a list of the drives in the Flinders so will dig them out for you.
