We are looking for a supplier of fitted sheets suited to caravan mattresses i.e. rounded corners on the feet end normal corners head end. Buy KING size and tuck them under. If they dislodge there must be a reasonable amount of activity happening above.

Actually this topic is a P.I.T.A for me. I have a rooftop Maggi, and the mattress size is somewhere between Single & Double - if I use a single fitted, the corners curl up, if I use double, the sheet comes loose from every direction....

Anyone know if there's a "one and one half" fitted ???

Use double fitted, stitch some short bits of velcro loop to either side near the edge and use lengths of velcro hook as a straps to go across under the mattress.

Once upon a time people had sewing machines and could create and modify fabrics to suit their needs. Sadly, this skill seems to be passing away.

For the mattress in our Troopy we took a pair of flat sheets and sewed the lower one into a fitted sheet to suit the mattress size.
The upper sheet was sewed to become fitted at the foot only so that it remains firmly in place at all times.

Cultivate a friend with a sewing machine. Use a nice smile and have a box of chocolates ready.

Cheers

Agree Allan, shouldn't take much ingenuity to make a fitted sheet with rounded corners. If it really matters ...

Thats what my wife did for my swags, our Tvan and Bushtracker, just bottom sew the top sheet to the fitted bottom sheet. Modify the fitted bottom sheet if required.
We have cotton ones for summer, and flannel ones for winter :0)

I can't understand why they don't make fitted sheets (foot only of course) for regular top sheets. Doesn't everybody have trouble with the top sheet pulling out? Marketing opportunity anyone?

Cheers

G'day Allan.

Ah, "Once Upon a Time", is happening so often isn't it?

Many seem to rely on someone else's ingenuity instead of having a packet of it themselves.
That reminds me, I must go and buy some more, nearly run out.
I find it quite cost effective to have some stock of it.

I would like to see anyone Google how to make one. My wife made ours. We have a sewing machine. Even I can make it do things.Well at least sew in a straight line. Sue reckons it really is quite simple.

Then I go and tear off one side. oops!!..

I am not ashamed to say, that the sewing machine is a tool in the shed. I have fixed and made a number of manly things with it.

Hi raincloud.
Try this place. http://www.neeki.com.au/custom
I haven't used them but they will make sheets to order if you don't mind paying the price.

Caravan Queen size tends to be a bit smaller than standard, especially with the cut away corners. I couldn't be bothered making or altering sheets but just bought a decent quality (not skimpy) double fitted sheet for the bottom and a Queen size flat sheet for the top. Works perfectly - the bottom sheet is pulled nice and firm and stays in place and the top sheet has plenty of tuck in. Linen shops often sell sheets individually, especially at sale times. Lynne

As our caravan QS mattress is the same as the one at home, sheets are no problems, however here is another optionSuncraft Shades for custom made sheets to the link given above for custom made sheets.

Alternatively, purchase sheeting lengths from a fabric store, and if neither of you sew, offer the job to a housewife with a sewing machine in your street.

I hate having sheets tucked in at the feet. Need to have my feet stuck out to act like my body's radiator :)

I'm shocked! ;)
A housewife with a sewing machine?!
All my neighbours know it's the man of my house who has the sewing machine!!
He has a welder, a motorbike and a Janome!!

PS: Those who work in housekeeping in hotels swear by flat sheets. It's all we use at home now. I got sick of the elastic going saggy long before the sheets died...
It's just a "think outside the square" thought...

I was frustrated with the skinny foam and narrow single beds in our van because normal singles would move around to much and look untidy. Sheesh it must be a womanly frustration. We had some brilliant ones made up from Quicksales They have elastic all the way around and are snug fitting. I'm looking at getting some flannelette ones now too. Brrrr.

Bonz, (o witty one!!) it only counts if your motorbike does hems and zippers as good as hubby's Janome does!
