<span class="highlight">Caravan</span> Park discount

Hi Brian, we are top tourist members, although we normally free camp but find there is always a top tourist park in most places and they are usually a little cheaper than the big 4 parks .You can usually join at the park you choose to stay at. There are other organisations Family Parks is another.

I agree with the Top Tourist park comment.
But I suggest you google the towns you are likely to stay at and have a look at their caravan park lists, then if you like one you can often join their loyalty program on line or when you arrive.
We now use caravancaravan, exploreoz, camps 7 or badgers caravan park reports to get an idea of what park COULD be the best to stay at, and whether to join a loyalty program. We will NOT be renewing our Top Tourist program in May as we have not been able to stay in one for over a year.
You could also join clubs such as the Australian Caravan Club (open to all RV types) they have caravan parks who offer discounts to ACC members and have a Farm Stay program too.

There are four regular park chains, Big 4, Top Tourist, Family Parks andOzParks. The order indicates the relative costs of joining and the average cost of park fees. It also indicates the flashiness of the parks in the chain. Going to one of the park chains gives a reasonable chance of getting ar reasonable park to stay in, if they attract too many complaints to head office they get booted out of the chain.

If you want to see where their parks are then go to their sites and you will find a map with dots on it. It's up to you to do your homework as to the value of any of the chains to you. Big 4 have a joining fee, the others don't. Most have a two week limit for the 10% discount (OzParks unlimited time) and mostly the maximum discount at any one park is equal to their annual fee for each visit.

We used to be paid up subscribers to 'Big 4' but have let it lapse simply because as far as we are concerned they are too bloody expensive, even with the discount.

If you're after 5 star then they are the way to go, but for the few times we stay in parks we are more than happy to go 3 star at often less than 1/2 the price.

If you are going to places that have a number of one particularly chain and would choose these parks, it may be worthwhile. However as fees for these franchise or marketing arrangements as well as a certain standard of what is provided have to be covered, they generally already already charge more than other parks.
