Engel MT45FPD <span class="highlight">wiring</span> up to vehicle

Hi everyone
I have just brought a Engel MT45FPD.
I was going to connect it up to a fuse panel that I have mains running to the deep cycle battery.
It is 6 or 8 mm cable.
The only things that I have running off the fuse panel is some LED lights.
The Engel book said that you should run straight from the battery to the Engel(a socket) & twist the cables together so you don't get radio interference .
The size of the cable depends on how long the run is.
Which way should I go.

I assume you have heavier cable running form the isolator to the Deep cycle then
have run 8mm to the fuse box?
As long as the 8mm run is short you should be ok connecting the fridge to the fuse box.
As for the twisted cable, if Engel designed the fridge correctly you shouldn't get any electrical noise form the fridge!
I would try it as is, if noise is a problem then you'll have to try twisted cable.

I have the 8mm twin cable (+ has a 50 amp fuse at battery end)
going straight to the fuse panel (5 mtr run approx.)
I have a troopy bush camper.

The cable should be ok, even allowing for 19M (to & return) it is only about .1V drop at 4 amps.
The length of cable though might make a good antenna for RF noise, again try it and see, if it's a problem then you can always replace with a twisted pair later.

No problem, if you do get RF noise you could also try using a ferrite RF trap (available at Jaycar) placed on the cable as close as possible to the fridge.
