If you look at the back of a folding
solar panel setup with a "built-in" regulator, you should see either one
junction box on each panel, one of which includes an internal regulator, or more commonly nowadays, a
junction box on each panel and a separate regulator or controller on one of them.
It is a simple matter to trace the wires from one box to the other and where they terminate on the second
junction box, this is where you connect a "bypass" cable to.
This cable should be clearly identified as an unregulated circuit which requires connection to a dc-dc charger's
solar input terminals or a separate
solar regulator.
