Kingoonya to Wirrulla track South Australia

Submitted: Saturday, May 04, 2002 at 00:00

Terry

In July we intend to travel this track from north to south. Is there anyone who has done this trip recently and can let me know the general conditions etc and how long it took. The party will consist of 4 Landcruisers. Also can anyone compare this track with Googes track also mentioned recently in this forum which runs further to the west and could be an option depending upon conditions of these tracks and also the track along the "Trans Line"between Kingoonya and Malbooma where Googes Track runs off.

Have not been on that track (more like a road) recently - travelled it in '99 with a Patrol & Cavalier .... you will have no trouble providing the lakes are low (no recent heavy rain) .... it is an interesting trip .

Drove Wirrulla to Kingoonya last year.
Good country road, really. My GPS said it doesn't quite follow the same route the map says it does, but that's no surprise really.
In the dry, you drive your Falcon ute there. In the wet, it gets very soggy indeed at the southern end.

Check out Skull Tanks near the southern end of Lake Evererard. Century-old wooden tanks, some of which still hold water.
