Hi all....

Just after some info as to whether you access Maytown from the west via Palmerville Stn?
My map shows a few different tracks in the area and I'm after some local knowledge or someone who may have been that recently....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.... :-)

Rob

You can go via Palmerille Station, have not been thrugh there this year as reports were that the rivers were still high. check with QPWS at Chillagoe 07 4094 7163 they look after the area including Maytown. If you want to check north of Maytown try Jowalbinna 07 4060 3236

Good luck..

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I'll try ringing them in the following days.....

Anyone else with recent or local knowledge of the area?

I had received an email from a fellow traveler that had been past palmerville. He indicated that the gates were padlocked shut by the QPWS due to the recent court case that was still continuing. Not sure what relevance that is, but I thought I would ask here on other people's experiences....

There was some trouble with a local and his wife, they are locked up, there was a"stay away from the area" alert for a while, the gates get locked when the Mitchel and the Palmer gets high, the Mitchel was running at 2 metres in May around St George Outstation we were going to run a trip through private property out there and had to call it off..

Hi,

Came through there from north last year, Im sure we passed a new road on the north side of the river signposted to Maytown. There is also a new section of road south from the homestead, further west than the old road. My Hema maps don't show these new roads. Might be worth checking with local authorities.

Cheers
