Hi all,

I am looking a bit saggy in the bum, er that is the Nissan Pathfinder is looking a bit saggy in the rear end, do I go with a set of Polyair bags, or bite the bullet and go with new springs, the tow is a Challenge Camper Trailer, I had Polyair bags in the Toyota, and they worked a treat, what to do?

G'day Baz

Whilst I'm a great believer in airbags within coils. I'm equally of the opinion they should be helpers rather than required to do the job of the springs.
Hence my opinion would be to sort the springs out first, then add bags as an adjunct, should they be required.

Thanks Rosco,

I must admit that is what I did with the Toyota, so I guess I may as well do the same thing with the Nissan.

Maybe look at SUMO springs - nothing to adjust, nothing to puncture! The KISS principle!

New springs to late for air bags once they have sagged probably should get the front checked out as well it could be sitting a bit lower as well depending how many k's they're done.

Hi Barry,
I have the Nissan ti 550 Pathfinder and I put the air bags on from new as we tow a 23 ft Roadstar, the air bags are a bit of a let down and if I we to do it again I would go with the spring up grade you will get a firmer ride but it will be beneficial in the long run, then I would look to see if the air bags were still warranted.
let me know how you get on with the change as I may still go and upgrade the springs.

I am going through this on my 100 series at the moment and have been strongly advised progressive heavier duty coils are the go.

Cost wise in my case coils are about $240 for the pair against $400 for the airbags plus fitting for either.

Thanks Guys,

I will go with the spring upgrade first, see how that goes, then maybe airbags if they are needed, I will keep you posted.

My mate bought a 96 Pathfinder new and he tows a Millard van , even not towing with 4 people in it used to bottom out on lumpy roads. so we fitted progressive Kings rear springs and a set of Poly Airs , and when he sold it last year it was still good as gold,
Cheers Des.
