Not often does one get more than they bargained for - in a good way. We stayed at the Alpha Caravan & Villa Park this evening and got a great deal more than we paid for. Our host was most obliging and accommodating; the facilities were clean and tidy; the park-like grounds green and spacious. We arrived tired, dusty and ready only to fall into bed when the proprietor suggested we might consider joining the other campers for an evening's entertainment. We did so and found ourselves met and hosted by members of the local community. The local butcher and delicatessen owner was cooking up a storm of appetisers and sharing the local cuisine with all, a young man by the name of Peter Tilse serenaded us all in a most professional capacity - he was well and truly good enough to be an "Australian X-Factor" contender, the camp's proprietor then cooked up a feast and shared it with us around a huge bonfire. There was much more besides and it gave us a night we will thoroughly enjoy remembering all for a nominal and voluntary donation. So many people we spoke to had come for one night and had decided to stay on for several more because they enjoyed the campgrounds, the town and its people. We are off in the morning heading to the local bakery where Snowy is said to make the best meat pies people have ever tasted. So, congratulations to this camping park and the town of Alpha for getting together to ensure this is a spot we will have great pleasure in recommending and coming back to.
