Anne Beadell Hwy and Connie Sue Hwy

Hi There,

Me and some friends are going to do the Anne Beadell from Laverton to Neale Junction and then the Connie Sue from Neale Junction down to Rawlina in October 2014 and am looking for some information on the condition of the tracks, if anyone has driven it recently some track info would be much appreciated.

Cheers Shane

Hi Shane

We have only just got back from that area only a couple of weeks ago. The tracks that you are taking are fine and the run down from Neale Junction is a real super highway. The same however can not be said on the Connie Sue north of Neale Junction, being very corrugated compared to what it was like only a few years ago.

I hope you have done your homework, as there is lots to see along the way.

Have a great drive.

Cheers

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your response, just wanted to clarify if you came across from Laverton or not, with you mentioning being north of Neale Junction on the Connie Sue. I have heard there are large washouts on the Anne Beadell. I have done a little research on sites to see but haven't been able to find a great deal, any help here would be great as well.

Cheers Shane

Hi Shane

This time we did not come from Laverton. The drive out through White Cliffs is always an easy drive and the road is most situations is very good condition. As for wash out, you will find them further out and well into South Australia.

We entered the Connie Sue at Connie Sue tanks, coming in from Tjuntjuntara Aboriginal Community. The road up to Neale junction was in first class condition, as this is the main road from Rawlinna that the fuel tankers use to keep Ilkurlka topped up with fuel.

Here are images of what you can expect to see coming in from Laverton, and then down to Rawlina.

Cheers

Stephen

In July from the Cable Haul Rd north to Neale junction was good. Corrugations from NJ to Neale Breakaways and a bit beyond.

South of the Cable Haul Rd to Rawlinna - no idea as we entered the CS via the CH Rd which BTW was excellent.

Expect to see lots of wild flowers along the way.

Cheers

Hi,
I came down from Neales Junction to Cocklebiddy about a month ago. The Connie Sue from the bend to Rawlinna is slower going but no problem, and from Rawlinna to Cocklebiddy can be very muddy if it has rained, otherwise slower going as you dodge the holes and rocky areas, and open/close the gates.
As has been said, the desert currently is in bloom, and very picturesque.
We did Hanns Track whilst there and that is spectacular country.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your reply. Was wondering if you have ever done the track from Balladonia to Mt Ragged in Cape Arid National Park and what it was like if not i'll submit another separate post.

Cheers Shane

hi justcrusn,
I have done the ab and cape arid in the last couple of months, also the connie sue a couple of years ago. We visited Mt ragged and cape Isralite also. The Baladonia track ( we did half or so of it ) is no real problem. It is quite rocky(for a road ) ,in places reasonably corrugated also. All 2wd stuff. If you go to Isralite bay there is some 4wd sand. Also some bull dust sections. It felt quite remote, more so than the AB. Less people would seem to travel this way. If it bleep down I would not want to be there as a solo vehicle( as we were). Depending which exact way you go lots of rain would make some long bog holes interesting- without a winch. I enjoyed the Cape Arid area.
Have fun, cheers ian.
