Clean Up Australia Day

Gday all,

Anyone know if NPWS or State Forests are getting involved in Clean Up Australia day this Sunday? I live in the Hunter region and thought it would be good to help clean up in the local National Parks or State Forests (if they have rubbish in them that is!??).

Is there a clean up happening at Stockton Beach? I checked www.cleanup.com.au but couldn't find any info.

It's a good opportunity to pitch in and show just how much 4wders appreciate this great country of ours.

Maybe you could check with local 4x4 club/s.
Here in SA the State association (SAAFWDC) is coordinating member clubs to look after their own areas. Here on the Yorke Peninsula, we will be doing a stretch of beach that tends to cop a fair amount of flotsom and jetsom (spelling???).
For those of you in other states, takes a look at any soft drink/beer bottle/can/carton you buy and notice that there is a 5c refund if sold in SA.......Guess what, hardly ever see an empty can/bottle/flav milk carton lying around this state.
Maybe other states should bring the same thing in?

Hi Black Stump

I'm also from the Hunter region - haven't seen anything in local papers about NP cleanups. If you ring Port Stephens Council or NPWS Raymond Terrace they should be able to tell you whether a cleanup is planned for Stockton Beach.

We are packing our 4wd and heading out west for a couple of days NP camping, so will do our bit by leaving the campground cleaner then when we arrived (as we always do).
