Waeco cf50 locking latch

The locking latch has come apart on the Waeco, it doesn't seem to be broken just can't see how the spring sits. When I put it back together the spring is pushing the locking tabs out not in. What am I doing wrong.

Had the same thing happen to my cf60 once..

Can't tell you how I fixed it , but keep persevering, you'll get it sooner or later.

Just had the same thing happen to mine except one of the little connectors had broken.

Took lid into Tamworth Fishing and Tackle and they fixed it for me on the spot with all new parts, so big thumbs up to them.

Apparently it is the stretching of the connectors on the rod that causes the problem in the first place and the spring pops.

If you apply a little heat to the connectors you can narrow them to stop this happening although it is quite likely you will eventually need to replace the handle.
