I am after a good lumber support for the driver’s seat of a Land Cruiser 100 series, any recommendations as what to buy?

Speak to your chiropractor, or physiotherapist as they will then been able to make suggestions relating to your specific case & needs.
Then speak to a suitably qualified motor trimmer.
Hope your back feels better soon :-)

Good advice. I did and this was recommended ...

I bought one and am very happy with it. I have an 80 series Landcruiser, a vehicle built when driver comfort was considered "sissy", going by the seats they put in them.

Gee, I don't know of any made of lumber - wood would be too hard, surely(!).

You must wear a check shirt to make it better! All good lumber men wear check shirts.

Cobber,

We had a place in Bowen Hills Qld, Motorcraft or Motorcare I think it was, put pneumatic lumbar supports in the front seats of an 80 series Landcruiser. Made a big difference to a long day's drive, and one's comfort.

What OBJ said about 80 series is right, $70K plus vehicle(then), with bucket seats out of a base model Hilux. :-)

Those mesh thingies Dr Hook mentioned work very well. Good price too.

They sell millions of them at caravan shows for three times that price.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

Agree, they work surprisingly well
My wife was getting lower back pain and tried the inflatable lumber supports that Recaro make but found that these cheap mesh supports worked for her better

Certainly make a difference in our Pajero - particularly on the long hauls.

Bargain price at Officeworks - no more 'show specials' for us....

Cobber

I have problems with my back (Toyota back) as I drive a landcruiser for work. I have a lumbar support which was provided by my employer.

It does help but I still have problems with my back. I do not have any when driving my private vehicle.

My suggestion to you would be to fit after market seats. It is a lot more expensive but would be worth it in the long run. What is your health and comfort worth?

Not everyones problem but it can be vibration which hurts, sometimes lumbar support helps a bit.
Rough vehicles cause compression of spine somehow which makes it ache.
Suspension sats or Confor foam are the solution.
Sitting too upright feels good but makes it worse in my case.

I have a 1999 HZJ100, weigh 150kgs, and have had the drivers seat repaired a couple of times. It's done 477,000 kms. The last time it was done, we put a pneumatic lumbar support in the seat, and I have to say that it has made a huge difference. It easy to adjust on the run if necessary. I have had back problems for years, and this thing has made my life much more comfortable.
Speak to your motor trimmer.

cheers

I drive a 1HZJ105 series Cruiser so doesn't come more stock standard than that. On a recent trip across the Nullarbor I was having issues with my lower back. I pulled out one of those small inflatable camping pillows (mine was a black wolf one) and used some velcro around the seat to hold it in place. Was a temporary fix and was not pretty to look at but it worked a treat at the time.

Cheers
