Hi: Just arrived in
Perth after travelling from
Brisbane via
Darwin. My van needs a thorough 10 000 km wheel bearings and brake service. Can anyone guide me to a reputable
caravan servicing business in
Perth: The brakes in particular need close attention. Thanks in advance. Best regards. Lynton

Not sure where you are satying in
Perth but in Balcatta there is a service place called Absolute
Caravan Care. 1/16 Abrams st. 9240 4552.
May have trouble getting a service this time of the year. Are you staying a while?

Personally I wouldn't even think about That Balcatta Mob
Especially anything to do with Axles and Awnings.
From MY Experience with them I'd be advising you to steer clear of them and go to a place that actually knows what they're doing.
I have used :-
North River Caravans 4/288 Gnangarra Rd Lansdale
08 9302 5118 - 0419 951 654 Wayne Shield
Or:-
Northside
Caravan Repairs 2/22 Delmarta Rd
Wangarra 08 9408 0986 - 0401 546 828 Martin
Both are good repair / service shops and Do a Quality job without comebacks

Pretty sure any decent mechanic will do both jobs and may avoid the extended 'seasonal break' for van repairers, Lynton.
Just advise your area and you will get a few suggestions- my local mechanic in Morley / Bayswater area looks after my van brakes & bearings. But many will be closed till 2nd Jan.
Cheers - Phil

Perth Caravan Repairs Beckenham (just off
Albany Hwy) - Murray is great to deal with. They have serviced our vans as
well as having extra
water tank fitted, four seasons hatch installed, awning track on the off side, extra power point installed .

Thanks sincerely to all of you for your suggestions. I should have given an indication of where I am staying; although I am prepared to take my van to any location in
Perth if the service is first class. As I implied, my brakes are in dire need of serious work! My van is located at my sister's place in Karrinyup. I think some of those
places suggested are somewhere nearby. Best regards. Lynton

I have used Warren's Tyre and Brake in Morley. He is not a
caravan shop, just a car
shop but I have taken my old camper there and will soon take the Jayco for new bearings and to adjust the brakes. Good service and realistic prices, same guys have been working there since I've been going (maybe 15 yrs) which I take as a good sign!

I went to a
Perth caravan repairer south of
Perth.
Had extra
water tank installed - couldn't get water in until took off hose and discovered blank in inlet not drilled out!!
Filled up tank, water not flow out of outlet. Oh no, I said could it be blank not drilled out in outlet too?? You guessed it!!!
Solar panels installed 3 x 150W. Fuse 20Amp, blew and I discovered too small wire gauge fitted from solar regulator to batteries. Did not bother going back as I had lost trust with this workmanship.
I'll let you figure!

Brakes and wheel bearings on a
caravan don't need a
caravan repair
shop to service them..........and decent mechanical service department can do these...sounds like ideally a brake specialist.....and if they can do those they can do wheel bearings
You biggest issue may be finding a garage/mechanic that has room to fit the
caravan in somewhere to work if they don't want to sit out in the sun...or maybe access issues with the 'van in tow
Suggest you yellow page search a brake specialist in the area you are in at the moment...
best of luck
