Hard floor roof top tent

Hi all , we've had some great trips with our roof top tent , it suits our stile of tripping around , if I could change something, it would be the annex area or the part that surrounds the ladder , rain goes straight through it . chasing info on a hard floor annex area ?? B nice

I have a RTT too. When its wet I try to camp on a slight slope and put 2 wheels in holes or two wheels on stones as circumstances allow, so the the vehicle, and hence the bed, is reasonable flat. Dig side trenches to channel water away and the floor stays dry. Without a trailer I cannot imagine a hard floor being practical. The weight and setup time of such a thing is just too great IMHO. Careful selection of camp site and a bit of engineering is the way to go for me.

Digging side trenches for drainage went the way of the dinosaur years ago. I'll bet you don't do that in caravan parks, so why would you do it out bush? An old scouts trick that, luckily, only old scouts remember.

Hi Ray. What brand is it? I have a Roo system RTT and mine has a bucket type floor in the annex as have other brands I have seen so not real sure how the rain is getting in. The only way rain would get into mine is if I left the door & windows open. Phil.

Thanks phil, it's ironman & rain bleeds through the lighter material of the annex , as for the floor , just thinking outside the square

I suggest you go back to Ironman. Their customer service I have found to be outstanding.
If you want to go outside the square how about laying out those rubber floor mats with the holes that link together and then throw a C-Gear mat over the top of them.

My Simpson rrt has a zip in bucket floor inside was lovely and dry the one time i used it down at Aire River mind you we were rocked to sleep with the wind and rain.
I have put a piece of keder track on the underside of the piece that fold down so the annex stays attached to the underside when I fold the tent up I just throw the annex on top not taking it off makes it much easier to pack up. I only need to put the floor on that 1 weekend so far
