UHF radio for a 200 series Land Cruiser

yep, I done the same, unit under the seat and handset on the dash. Yes I am biased to Icom as I've used the product for 40 years and never had a problem that couldn't be fixed easily. I used to belong to a radio club, hence I started with icom. They are not the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for. They are also a little bit more complex to operate than some of the other manufacturers, so to me it is individual preference. Some of the others are also good units but it comes done to cost and preference

Ditto here....but they put my body in behind the dash somewhere, and the micro phone lead com out under the front of the center consol.

Same as Simon C behind the dash and I just drape the microphone over the wiper stalk. If you want your passenger to use it easily you will need to do something else. Its a good idea when installing a UHF that the aerial lead is a couple metres longer than required with the surplus cable tied under the dash somewhere. At a later date it maybe be necessary to cut the aeiral cable to remove the bullbar, grille etc, and rather than have to put a joiner in (they always give trouble) you just pull through some of the excess from under the dash. Easy peezy.
