Sam,
I recently bought a 93 HiLux dualcab Diesel with the conversion you ask about. In the original battery shelf there is a N70 deep cycle which I use for every accessory on the truck,On the passenger side the original air cleaner has been removed and a custom box from 2mm aluminium was made which houses a K&N air filter The airbox has a 125mm reinforced rubber tubing going from the
snorkel to this airbox and then more of the same tubing from the airbox to the inlet manifold. Right up in the pass. corner is a Optima 1050 battery mounted on its side to clear the bonnet sitting on a tray bolted to the wheel arch. this is solely a starter battery and is isolated with a manual solenoid which charges both or just one of the batterys. The A/C is an aftermarket setup which has all pipework coming down the drivers side. The powersteering resevoir is mounted on a custom bracket between the Optima and the airbox. I understand these optima batterys are expensive but they certainly have the balls to spin a diesel over. I looked at putting the original air filter back in but I can't see howand I don't really like the idea of a big battery in the tray taking up valuable space any way.But as far as running a
fridge off this battery while
camping why not look at a solar panel to top up the battery as these fridges draw a fair bit anyway or just running it on gas when camped?Anyway see how you go
Thanks
PAUL

thanks Paul, i may look to doing this eventually, due to my time constraints now, i will have to put the battery in the tray. The
fridge I have is rated to draw 2.7 amps max. Does your truck have aircon? This was another issue I had. The A/C plumbing was in the road aswell. Also, was there an impact on performance/fuel economy with the change in air filter? cheers, Sam.
