How to siphon diesel on Nissan GU 2.8 liters?

Submitted: Saturday, May 11, 2002 at 00:00

Guy

I have tried without success how to siphon diesel from my first tank( 90 l) or my auxiliary tank(30 l) to give to someone in a convoy --.
I tried at home also many time by using different size hoses to siphon the diesel. - - -.
The S shape hose is difficult to pass even with an 8 mm plastic tube. - - but after is seems to be a non- return valve or an anti-theft
device which blocks the hose . - - Any one has any idea how to do it. even disconnecting underneath one of the diesel hose -
a detailed explanation will be appreciated.

Don't you have a bung on the bottom. Undo and drain some?

Your idea does not work as there is a thick metal plate protecting the diesel tank- - -
Any other practical ideas which work will be appreciated - - -

Guy, the only other way I can think of, which may be too in volved for you, is to cut into the line between the tanks and the fuel filter and add a T piece and a tap if low down under the vehicle fuel will run out slowly . If you do the connection under the bonnet by the filter a small electrc fuel pump could be used to trabsfer fuel. Regards Ken.

Ahha.... just had a thought..... If you really need to shift some fuel, why not fit a small pipe over the hand pump [primer - bleeder]. I reckon a fair flow could be set up and probably flow well if you are decanting into a container. Know what I mean?

Guy, I have thought about this with my HJ60 LC. It's too hard. I now carry a 15 litre jerry just for other people. I once offered it for $20 in the middle of the Tanami when Rabbit Flat was closed but he insisted on $50. I thought I was ripping him off at $20! Mal.
