Hi I posted this reply on another forum some time ago might be worth a look.
I bought it from this mob Satellitephonesales.com.au Australia's cheapest Satellite phone - I looked on their website and they don't mention them so I rang them and talked to a sales person who said they do sell them but they are not advertised. They have gone up heaps since I bought mine, in fact they sold mine at a loss.( Pre release deal) New price is $499.00 and he could not send me a brochure or link to the item. Good luck! Cheers Rob

I only have the in car kit, that way you can have the sat phone on all the time while your driving, and can receive calls as well.
You do get a lot better signal, and not running around the paddock looking for one.

If you're only after a passive, an Iridium would do.

UIAVMM, I know you know what a passive antenna is ("unk"), so it must be the Iridium bit.

IsatPhone spectrum is the block immediately above the Iridium bit (1616-1625.5), so a passive ant from that slot will be quite wideband. (Heck, they use them as dual Iridium/GPS in some places and that's ~100megs lower.) I'm not sufficiently familiar with IsatPhone terminals to know if they are happy with a passive though.

I'm assuming (yeah, I know, mother of all ****ups) that you only want it for testing. If I'm allowed to mention it here, one such ant just sold on ebay.au for <$30. (Item# 321703692097). The best local price I've seen for new stock currently is $195.

Usual disclaimer applies.

It's an acronym in common use in a number of forums, from a very famous quote of the inimitable Murray Walker, F1 commentator - "Unless I Am Very Much Mistaken". There were even shirts printed with that on the front, and the back read "Yes, I Am Very Much Mistaken". Sorry if it was out of place here.

Having met David when he lived here in W.A., I know enough about him to be quite sure of his knowledge of antennae.

Did you try Google?

Now that I know what UIAVMM means, Google did find it. I must have used the wrong question.

Well then I was misled by someone on the Cxxxx group a goodly time back who inferred you were the DC with that call suffix I embedded earlier (post 837371) ex WA and then/now in Qld, and I have been suffering under that misapprehension ever since.

Apologies for the confusion and my Murray Walker moment.

Just spoke to the "other" David aka goldwombat and HE is the person I mistook the O/P for. Combination of the name, "nick" and topic threw me - The Duck Test.
