Hi all,
referring to my older threads we have made our respective decision.

Ford Ranger D3.2 4x4 Extended Cab Chassis
Alloy Tray
OME Suspension upgrade heavy duty
Long Range fuel tank
265/65 R 17 Bridgestone Dueler AT
150 W Solar panel with REDARC SmartStart Battery Management System (car roof)
Additional battery (2. row)
47 L ARB Fridge/Freezer (2. row)
Portable Compressor ARB

Trayon 1830 Deluxe

Fully equipped I expect a maximum GVM of 3.100kg.

Does anyone have concrete experience with this combo or similar in rough terrain?

Any other comments?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers KarlHerbert

We have got a similar vehicle.Ranger 3.2 extra cab & 1830 trayon. We have done Silverton to Haddons corner accross to Birdsville, down the inside track, across Walkers track to Inniminca ,down to the Flinders Ranges & then home. While in the flinders Rangers we drove some very rough 4x4 tracks. I found the original suspension to be a bit soft so have replaced it with OME medium duty because i didn't want it to rough unloaded. We have a long range fuel tank & 70 litre water tank.Fully loaded weight is 3200kg. We are very happy with the setup. The photo is my previous ranger

Hi Karl

We have been travelling for 20 months in our 2009 Ford Ranger Spacecab and Trayon 1980 Delux/Alloy=steel tray/long range fuel tank/an extra leaf in the rear/wireless controlled airbags with on board compressor/Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tyres/120w portable solar/2nd battery under bonnet/25A In-Vehicle Battery Charger/MPPT Regulator (BCDC1225)/plus sidesteps, UBP etc, etc.

We have no experience of the newer Rangers but know of companies that are purchasing them and strengthening them before use. We would suggest that you do not load your Ranger to capacity. We extended, reinforced and got a mod cert on our chassis. Perfect. Heaps of power. Easy to drive.Only hassle is the diff is central and when riding rutty roads created (mainly) by larger vehicles we need to be very careful. Same for deep sandy tracks.

The Trayon is a dream and even through we are living in it we have needed to make only a few minor changes/additions.

Our trips have included the beaches of south WA/The High Country/big mobs of CA/The OTT and The Frenchman's Track... and occasionally we go to a town - but not for long...

Happy travelling
