Healthy eating on the Canning?

There is no quarantine checkpoint at the WA/NT border crossed when on the Tanami Track. The quarantine checkpoint is located on the Victoria Highway at the border.

There's a permanent Quarantine checkpoint on the Victoria H/way and another just east of Eucla.
There are honour system bins on the Gt Central Rd and the Tanami track.
And there is a roving Quarantine inspection crew who travel along all roads entering WA at some time or another on a random basis.

Getting caught trying to run the gauntlet(not dumping fruit or honey in the bins at these sites) can be rather expensive if you get caught with illegal produce inside WA

Apart from that, everybody who brings fruit/honey/seeds/soil into WA runs the risk of introducing unwanted plants, insects and/or viruses into the state and thus putting WA primary production at risk.

Don't risk being the one who adversely affects WA farmers livelihood.

Why not use tinned vegies and dried fruits for a small period of time. A week or so wont hurt and you then have the satisfaction of knowing that regardless of others you have done the right thing. Some of the dried fruits are really nice..apricots, bananas, apple. Fruit juice drinks could be a substitute for a small time.

Reckon you,ll find a solution.

Like someone else said...do the right thing as we don't to risk farmers livelihoods.
