Hi All,

Has anyone purchased one of these with the McHitch.

It seems the tongue needs to be tuned upside down raising the ball height, If this is the case then Ill need to look at alternatives such as a Custom tongue.

Or purchase it and make one to fit myself, It can be done but a PITA.

Cheers

Dave

I know nothing about the McHitch, but I do have a Stone Stomper and it is fantastic. Easily the best stone deflector I have used. However, the bloke who makes the Stone Stomper is extremely helpful. I found they were very happy to modify their design to make it work for different set ups. I'd talk to them.

Ive been communicating via email with Christian as there is no phone number advertised on their website. I sent an email about 8.30pm last night when communication ended with me stating id have to do more research on my setup.

He was very prompt with his replies after hours i might add, but i just couldnt get an answer regarding the tongue needing to be inverted or not.

Thanks

G'day Ned (Dave). I'm not sure what your problem is. Is it the way the Stone Stomper mounts on the hitch?
I have a new automatic Mchitch and I still mounted the Stone Stomper the same way as I did before. With the new D-Max I had to invert the hitch shank to lower the WDH head but the Stone Stomper still fitted the same way as on the old vehicle.

Thanks Rod, between checking my emails from Christian and his and others replies here its been a daunting task, I should have responded to you firstly, appologies. Based on my reply to Frank I hope that you may now understand that my thoughts were the bracket seemed longer than the tongue mount if it was flipped over, either there are different length brackets or the ball holes are slotted etc etc, or what I saw was an illusion based on camera position.

Believe me there is alot more to this point and the reasons are valid, all I wanted to know is if the auto coupler fitted the normal tongue mount with the bracket fitted, I only have about 10mm to spare

Cheers

Hi Dave,

If you have the Auto Coupler we have a new bracket designed for the hitch including new larger holding washers like below.

Hi Christian,

Yes I have an Auto coupling,

As per my emails last night i cannot invert my shank.

Bump:::

Just got your email reply to my late message last night, thanks for that pity they only mount with the tongue inverted. It makes the ball height 60mm higher from my measurements.

A slight mod would do the trick though.

Dave

The tongue can go either way Dave, it makes no difference to the bracket.

Dave,

I have just changed from a Tregg to a McHitch Autocoupler. Both use an inverted tongue. I've had no issues with my Stone Stomper.

Can you post a pic that shows your problem?

Cheers

Thanks for your feedback Frank, I just spent 20 minutes replying to your thread with pics etc then spotted Christians reply, it seems there was a communication problem considering we were emailing up to 8:30pm last night.

I may well have misread his response to my question regarding having the towbar normal or inverted.

Based on Christians post reply (above) then If I was to ask you to turn your tongue over and remount the coupling, the supplied bracket would still fit between the ball end of the towbar and the 45 degree point.

It was mainly due to looking at this pic it did not seem to be the case, ill give him my tongue measurements and see what length the bracket is.

Cheers!

Ahh, now I see your issue, Dave. Yes, if the tongue is short and you want it down, there would appear to be a problem.

Cheers Frank, Unfortunately I had to delete this picture as it was not mine but Stonestoppers. The issue has been solved and Christian kindly sent me an image showing how the bracket will fit with the Tongue NOT inverted. Once I have mine, (order details and measurements sent today) I will put a pic up to ensure future buyers are aware that it is suitable. It may be of some use, but either way this thread should be completed with that confirmation, with respect to all parties.

thanks everyone!
