Hi Russell
I have always run penrite diesel oil in my hilux changing the oil
every 8000k with new filter, thinking about going to synforce
what oil suits the hilux 3ltr with after market turbo, the 4x4 has
just clocked 110.000 kilometers & never needs oil added between

hello friar
my answer is very much going to depend on which penrite product you have used so far, as the rating specification of what you have used will be relevant.
the reason is that the hilux really should not go past 5000 k as they are renowned for soot build up in the oil, even to the point that the oil if used for too long may even "gel" (thicken up).
if the oil you have been using is of a low detergency type you may not have a clean engine inside and when you switch to a medium detergency oil such as our cruiser oil, you will notice your oil getting dirtier, sooner, and may even have to go a few short changes intervals to clean up.
if the oil you have been using was an already medium detergent oil, then you will not have to be concerned switching to our cruiser oil.
in any event, i know that you will notice a difference in performance if you do switch to cruiser.
if the oil was low detergency and a CG4 rated oil, and you did not want to take the chance on a higher detergency oil, then i would say our Diesel Super, even though it really is not the right recomendation for your vehicle.
your choice, russell

hello robb, you really should be on a CF4 or CH4 oil, not a CG4.
GTX diesel (CG4) is low ash where as the other two are medium ash (medium detergency) and suited more for japanese diesels.
if you are looking to change to synforce, then our cruiser oil is the one.

Russell,

Do you guys make a gear oil that makes gearshifts in an 80 series manual a little slicker (94 80 Series 4.5L). We use mobil Synthetic 75-80 and it is still very ordinary.
I believe that Castrol make vmx-m? and this improves shift quality.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg,
I hope Russell doesn't mind but I have got some gear oil, off Russell, and will be trying it out over Easter. A 4 day trip in the Snowy Mountians and four days later a 7 day trip in the Vic High Country. I also own a Cruiser and will let you know my thoughts on the oil when I get back.
