It is likely that there is no reference in the owners hand book, or on the tow bar, to a towing capacity as that vehicle model started its run prior to 1988.

There was no requirement for vehicle or component manufacturers to nominate the capacity of their products prior to the introduction of the 3rd edition of the ADR's in 1988, and even then the requirement only applied from the first model change or upgrade.

Even today there is no requirement for a vehicle maker to nominate a towing capacity or a GCM, and there is at least one vehicle maker who does not nominate any such capacity.

In 1988 all states actually agreed to a common set of rules relating to light vehicles (under 4.5 t GVM) towing trailers. These rules are;

1/ you can tow the lesser of the vehicle makers, or towbar makers, specified weight
OR
2/ IN THE ABSENCE OF A MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATION then you can tow a trailer of up to 150% (1 and a half times) the towing vehicles TARE weight.

Also
3/ all trailers over 750kg loaded weight must have an efficient brake system
4/ All trailers exceeding 2t must have both a DRIVER CONTROLLED brake system, and a breakaway brake system, that operates on all wheels.

Note a Driver Controlled brake system, not just Driver Operated. You must be able to control the amount of brake being applied to the trailer wheels from the normal drivers position.

Unless you severely overload that van, given a tare of 950kg, and an allowance of 350-400kg for the gear, food etc that you put into it giving a gross of just under 1400kg there is no bluddy way in the world that you would be breaking the laws regarding tow capacities.

The only issue you could have would be the actual towbar and it's rated capacity but given that most, if not, all 60 series were fitted with an unrated towbar with a capacity of around 2500kg, even that is an unlikely outcome.
Rated towbars etc only came into effect around 1989 so anything prior to that date is exempt. (But it is a good idea to use rated towbars etc anyway)
