Comment: EOTrackMe

I'm running EOTrackme as a test before the next trip away. It seems to be tracking fine....BUT.
It has added an overnight stop in Mt Barker (SA) that never occurred.
My home at Woodside (SA) is not that far away , but far enough that it show as Mt Barker.
I notice others are reporting similar issues.
Is there a way to stop these errors..???

Rob I think your tracking is working fine but remember unless you save or clear your tracking, each day will record as an overnight stop wherever the last signal prior to reaching your Geofence was recorded. As your Geofence is 2km radius and travelling on main roads would only take a few minutes to get from Mt Barker to inside your Geofence my guess is that the MB position that is recorded as your o/night was just the last position recorded on that day before you turned off your unit that was outside your Geofence. So it thinks that's where you spent the night as that's the last recorded position for that date. This is not an error.

Don't forget that it is best to save segments of your trip and name the different parts of your journey. This will move them off the active tracking and into the Treks tab on your profile and you can label them with a name that makes sense - ie. indicates location/region/track name. You can also choose to "clear" any tracking - which does not save them but does remove the active tracking so is really "deleting".

Trackers should note that from time to time you might get straight line data - that simply means that you've moved a significant distance from the last recorded position. Occasionally, for various technical reasons your device may not communicate successfully with our server at the time our server is trying to locate you for a position update (this is a system generated timed occurrence). You also have the option to adjust your settings that will determine the "accuracy" of your recorded points - ie. the frequency of recordings, because obviously the more points recorded over a distance = greater accuracy.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask any further questions although most other EOTrackMe users can chip in with info too as I am not always able to respond in a timely manner to the Forum but will do what I can.

Michelle,
My post on the EO Tracking discussion gave a similar problem. The entire trek is saved on trecking under Winter 2015.
At the end of each days travel I connected to internet and downloaded the points. The overnight stops sometimes showed at a position that we passed when we were still driving. I thought the problem might be with the laptop date/time setting but that was correct.
I have just invested in my first smart phone (Android) so will purchase a download for that and try that.

Sorry Trevor I see that was posted whilst we were away so we never saw it but do you think my explanation covers it?

Thanks Michelle,
It has taken me a few nights to work out how to zoom in on the (saved) User Trek, but got that sorted now. The overnight dates don't show on that so I suppose there is only a problem with the overnight markers until saved....while the trek is active. I couldn't make sense of the markers on the active tracking as sometimes they marked where we actually stopped overnight and sometimes where we were still driving. My practice was to store through the day and connect to the internet and forward to the system at the end of day's travel.
Geofence didn't come into effect until the final day and worked effectively then.
I will try on the Android phone and see how that goes....might take me a while to work out how to use that, being my first smart phone!
