Oz Tent Reviews please

Reviews of the Oz Tent please as an alternative to a canvas tent. Last time I looked at them the stitching didn't looks as though it would last long under the strain of the spring set up, but that was a couple years ago so hopefully someone out there has put one to decent testing over a year or two.

thanks

Be aware that when packed they have a very long length that could be a hassle to pack in or on your vehicle. I'm talking about 2 metres!!! Great for snagging trees.

Never used one but have seen very few in use in off road situations. Centre pole canvas tents are the most common and this is I think a recommendation for them - serious 4wders, bus companies wouldn't use them if they didn't do the job. The Oz tent looks flimsy to me and takes longer than a centre pole to put up if you use guys and pegs. A centre pole uses only perimeter pegs and one pole.

I have used an Oztent Trakker for about 2 years now, ie between 10 and 25 days camping a year and that's making and breaking camp every day or every couple of days. I am very pleased with the product but as noted above, it is 2m long when packed.

Hello Paul,
We have travelled Australia extensively over the last 4 year to places such as the Simpson Desert, Gunbarrel Highway, Steep Point WA, Goog's Track etc. We have had no problems with the quality or durability of the Oztent Discovery. With its self supporting frame we do not peg it down unless it is very windy. There is now a fibreglass capsule available called an Ozpod which bolts onto your roofrack. These are available from Oztent Australia (02)9757 4466. Hope this is some help to you.
