larger diameter tyres for a suzuki sierra(1 litre)

Mardy

I've just bought a sierra trayback with a 1 litre motor.(low ratio: 4.1 diff)
The tyres need changing (rims are 15", could change to 16") and I plan on doing a lot of highway k's ( so a hard compound) plus a small amount of 4wd.

I'd like to use as a large diametre tyres as possible..... to save the engine from screaming its head off + Its very flat in western qld.

Its only a small motor......how large can I go??
(I'll keep the width narrowish)

Got any ideas guys???

Nigel replied:

Queensland Transport won't let you put on anything that is more than
15mm larger than the original tyres.

The most popular tyre size sold for sierras in queensland is therefore illegal. I've never heard of anyone being booked, but the insurance company might use the tyre size against you if you make a claim.
