Hi all,

Just wondering? Bought a talc work of his 20 years ago after seeing him on TV in a Malcolm Douglas documentary. Is he still alive & kicking? If so, we're up his way in a fortnight or so & might pay him a visit.
Please advise & thanks.

G'day Bunyip,

Not sure as he's getting up in years now. Check at the Lyndhurst hotel they will be able to tell you.

Was there about 18 mths ago but he was down south and not sure if it was for health reasons or not.

Cheers P&J

Last time I was in the Lyndhurst hotel we couldn't get two words out of anybody, never felt less welcome in our lives!
We alway used to have a drink there to end our Outback trips, never again, go a bit further now to the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna.

It's often a case of "been there too long syndrome"...the owner is a little"aloof and a no nonsense sort of guy"
I was there in June.
The bar girl behind the counter was friendly and at the time, there were a few people there, so it was nice.
Being a lone woman traveller most of the times I have visited, who feels comfortable in the presence of men more than women, I think it makes a difference. In case your wondering why I am by myself. I was on my way to pick up my husband from his work, so we could start off his 2 weeks break, already near where we want to go.
Seems pointless for him to fly home, only for us to drive back to where he works :)
I've always arrived there later in the day, so there has been a few people about.
Talc Alf cornered me last year..a nice guy..full of knowledge and well researched opinions. He has quite an extensive knowledge base of the stars and Aboriginal spirituality.
It would be a lonely place to live I'd imagine. Especially in summer!
Cheers
Robyn

The 'girl' behind the bar was more ignorant than the owner & he was bad enough. It's a shame, because it ends a long tradition of a trip finish drink there.
