Portable Toilets and Dump Points

Portable toilets are becoming increasingly popular for people who don't want to give up on facilities while travelling. This article details the various portable camping toilets available in the

Fellow Campers
Shortly we are heading to Tassie on the new spirit to explore and free camp.
Having just bought a couple of bottles of the usual blue stuff. I have heard of other alternative substances you can use to break down and remove the offensive odours etc.

If any one knows any other natural effective toilet clearners, could you please give me a heads up with the ingredience etc and effectiveness.

Napisan or it's equivalent from the likes of The Reject Shop, Aldi or any supermarket.

Just buy a SOG system from Aussie Traveller.
We have had ours for 8 years, never missed a beat, then you can empty your Black waste into any Toilet or Septic system without fear of damage to same.
"NO MORE CHEMICALS EVER".

What does 'SOG' stand for????,

'Smell O'rl Gone'.

Best thing since flushing toilets.

Mick,
if you don't go down the SOG route. We use Coles Ultra booster.

Mix is 40ml soaker. 1/2 teaspoon of citric acid and 1/2 teaspoon of eucalypts oil, mixed in 1 litre of warm water and changed every 3 days.

The pre soakers do have a use by date, so they should be renewed every year if you haven't finished the bottle.

We have used this for a number of years and it works well.

We don't use anything in our toilet.....only gets used for no.1's.......if we are at a campground with no toilets, we dig our own....and empty the porta potti behind the nearest tree !!

Your idea is fine if the weather is reasonably warm, but when it's down around freezing or pppppping with rain???
The only way I could do it your way under those conditions would be to warm up from the inside with port/whisky or brandy, then I'd be more likely to fall in the hole rather than do what I went outside to do. So I stay inside!

"Napisan" type products works for me, no smell or dirty tank.

Yep, it's dangerous out there Gronk.
I take similar action to you, a coupla Reds seems to remove the need, at least for a little while...........:-)

I seem to be able to "feel the need " during the day....and if it was freezing cold, the "deed" doesn't take long !!

Rain......if there are other people around, then the toilet tent goes up....and it's got a roof !!

We use a product called "odour be gone" comes in tablet form, for no1 half a tablet each 4 to 5 days. no chemical smell and supposed to be septic friendly.
We have used it for many years and on a few caravans much better than all the chemicals costs about $1 per tablet available at some Camec stores or on line.

Yeah – Napisan Etc is the way to go. Here’s a note for those with a smallish bottom tank. Our two person team does not use the top tank to flush. We have a one litre pressure spray (the pump up sort) bottle of water in the toilet and use this to “flush” . Very effective when you can direct a strong steam at any “skid marks” and does not fill up the bottom tank with water.

We have been on the road now for 6 months using White King "Oxy-Lift" Power Packs. They contain 34% Sodium Percarbonate are available from the Supermarkets with 30 in a pack for approx $9.00. Can be also used in the top tank or for doing the Laundry. Highly recommend.
