Size of <span class="highlight">caravan</span> sites

Parks that have small sites were built for the vans of yesterday, 50-60 years ago when a 15 foot van was large and most people only had tents. So no need for large sites. These parks have not updated much no sullage, old power outlets ,old ammenities. If they updated to larger sites they would only get half the vans and would soon go broke. They usually update to units .
Large site parks are usually newer and have catered for todays sized vans .But there dose not seem to be any standard size for sites . Just put vans in as many spots as they can $$$$$.

I checked my copy of the WA Caravan & Camping Ground Regs and there is no minimum "lot" size. The Regs only say one van per allotment. No definition what an allotment is but I assume a van site.

All different, as is the width of the roads between sites. A narrow road with sites filled to the edge can make it impossible to back in with a large rig.

State regulations may have a minimum size for sites, but is probably not retrospective.

We always look first before paying, and if too small or too hard to get into for us, we drive away. Most caravan parks will have a few larger sites, and/or long bus sites.

Some caravan parks have an open unpowered area. Where they exist, the area is usually roomy, with informal parking, and even in a tightly packed full caravan park, there is usually plenty of room in the unpowered section.

In the past we have run into problems in a few places with both our camper trailer and roof top tent because they opened out to the side. There was not enough room and we encroached of the neighbouring site. Fortunately we generally stay out in the bush.

I have nearly finished our new expedition vehicle built on an Isuzu NPS300 truck chassis. Now that will probably challenge a few parks especially NP who seem to not like older folk in bigger vehicles.!!
