Am enroute Tasmania via Spirit (without van). Will be staying Melbourne pre departure approx. 2 nights and again for 3 nights post Tasmania. What I am looking for is reasonably priced Caravan Park in Melbourne and place to store van whilst in Tasmania. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Andy & Liz

We were after the same as you when we went to Tassie. We found Ashley Gardens in Braybrook. A lot of WA folk stay there (in cabins) when they come over to the footy or theatre shows.

Public Transport right at the front door, ensuite sites, good clean facilities and reasonably priced and secure van storage. It has a small shopping centre next door and larger ones within 5 minutes drive.

We ended up staying for 5 days before and 10 days after we came back. It was a good, safe central base to see Melbourne.

Cheers

Anthony

Good choice Anthony

We parked up there January 2014 and recommend the park.

We also took the van on the Spirit, but I recall the park had some arrangement for storage if required - though I could be thinking of the special area they allowed vans to be parked up after check out and awaiting boarding time. Hope it is a bit cooler for you, we copped a heat wave.

Enjoy - regards - Phil

Hi Phil

The van storage area was behind the office and service yard. Just opposite the games room and spa area.

From memory, there is the option of connecting to power as well if needed so you don't need to empty your freezers out.

We were there in June 2014 and had the opposite - those wild and wooly storms that savaged Melbourne.

Cheers

Anthony

Thanks Anthony,
Will give em a call and see what they can offer. Van storage being the main issue.

I can recommend the Big 4 at Coburg if you need a place to stay in Melb. No permenants, travellers only.
