Besides the panadol & a packet of band-aids: 4 different pain killers, assorted pills to keep various other bits functioning, a wheelie walker & 2 walking sticks.

It's not just for only age reasons, a long term illness doesn't help, but I can't lift the spare onto the rear carrier. So I got a jack strap and had made a bracket that mounts on the carrier and supports a Jack Strap and we lift the spare up that way. The bracket looks like an inverted capital "L" with some extra bracing. The picture explains it.

The one that annoys me and I know that I shouldn't feel anything - just ignore it. Bending down to put the socks on. I know that we do "wear down" as we age but why the bloody hell do the feet and toes seem further away. Beats me.

Apparently I am on a journey to hell !! Reading all your posts really has me worried. In a few weeks I have a significant birthday that everyone is telling me is a turning point. I wish it had a 5 in it but alas it doesn't. After considering what I have to look forward to I fear I am indeed on a slippery slope. Tell me do you have to inform Meals on Wheels before you go bush? Do you take an aged care nurse or do you just inform the "Home" of your whereabouts? Still soft foods and incontinence products probably take up less room than meat and red wine in the truck / van.
Tell me you are all exaggerating ------ please.

Seems this getting "old" is catching and like most of the other replies it is a bugger. One reply mentions putting socks on. For the life of me I cannot understand how my legs are getting longer as I age. We always carry a well stocked first aid kit and there are now more prescription drugs than band aids LOL. We still love to travel and with the AOR Quantum it is more comfortable than with the Trak Shak - with no time at all in setting up.

I am looking at getting a local business to alter the bracket that carries the spare wheel on the Quantum as it is a long way off the ground and like all 4x4 wheels it is dammed heavy.

Age travels all.

I like Muz's idea of the scotch keeping the pains at bay.

G'day Ross, not sure if this'll get past the moderator but being well into my mid 60's I've been advised that there are certain things you cannot ignore and I agree with their sentiment.

These being, never walk past a toilet, never trust a fart and never waste an erection.

Obviously you can't pack these in your kit but they are useful concepts all the same.

I was just saying to the wife the other day, the port that now holds our tablets, liniments, Cpap machine and other medical stuff, is the port I used to pack 15 years ago to go away for 2 weeks to work.
