Ive just purchased a fish finder and need to get a deacent battery that will power it. I also have a honda 4stroke 20hp. Batterys have never realy been my thing so hopin to get some reliable feedback on battery choice. Nothing else will be powered as its a pull start. The hondas have a good charging set up as im told but going to remote areas id like to connect it to my solar panel or in some way linked to my car when travelling.

Can anyone suggest a good battery sealed of course and options for keeping it charged. I have an anderson plug with 3 points so i can charge my dual batteries and my camper already so im thinking sacrafice the camper to charge the 3rd battery that way. Is that a valid option to take.
Cheers

One of the 7.5 ah deep cycles is all you need. One runs the sounder on my fishing kayak for 3 Day trips and still has power to burn.

Ditto.
I bought mine from Jaycar. It runs my combo unit for a couple of days at a time.

same here. Will last 3 or 4 days minimum .....being on for at least 5 hours at a time.

I,d go for something like this..

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10AH-LITHIUM-BATTERY-ALARM-FUSION-DEEP-CYCLE-SAME-SIZE-7AH-12V-V-LFP-12-10-/322048071659?hash=item4afb8f97eb

The reason behind this is that it is very light weight, can be used till flat(although better not to), will last for ages and has a lot of storage for your needs. Owning a boat you may want to install a radio, or live bait pump or lights further down the track. This battery has the capacity to do this. $200 is good value. The honda will charge at about 5 amps(if I remember right) so will suit this battery. Read the blurb about it and make up your own mind.

Good luck
