Hi Mechpete No will not hold that against you perhaps the Nissan yes ha ha ha .My friends name is Petrovic and her maiden name Bolton .being a Mechanic you must know ya vehicles .I just been Landcruiser man since 18 when I worked in Oil exploration .Bought a 60s petrol and then 80s petrol and now ended up in Diesel Hilux .I do prefer now the Landcruisers but hopefully this Hilux will see me through for long time touchwood.Never done any offroad work in it though so bit aprehensive going bush.So hopefully it will do the trick ...cheers

G'day aussiedingo : best fun you will have with your clothes on ......lol

camping 200 k's of it just find a good spot , somewhere you can see for a long distances . most ~ haha of the wollys camp in the 1st section from the start ....

scrutineering is where you can have a good look at cars & bike ...dont 4get your coat . Prologue for a warm up .....

A very large number of people will be camping along the track so get in early .
dont expect to get out in a hurry afterwards !!!

P.S it will be COLD !!!

"Camping Along The Track

Please Note: NO Camping is allowed at the Finke Desert Race Start/Finish line. Saturday is commonly when most campers will head down the track to set up camp for the weekend. All campers are asked to make a gold coin donation to the Finke Desert Race Inc for the pleasure of staying out under the stars.

Camping is allowed anywhere throughout the whole 220km course, at your own risk.

There are many things to bear in mind:

Camping Fees

If you are camping along the Finke track, the majority of the land is private property. If you intend to camp between the start line and Ewaninga rail siding, you may incur a fee. The landholder has the right to do this. If you are unhappy with this, please direct your enquiry to the landholder who will be clearly identified.

The Finke Desert Race Club conducts the race on other people’s property and has no control over camping fees. We ask that all campers respect the land they are camping on and bring back any rubbish."
