We intend to travel on this highway In the near future. Can anyone advise on the road condition. IS it suitable for towing a standard 17 ft Caravan? Has there been any rain in this part of Auataralai ?thanks

There are some stretches of bitumen. Between Hells
Gate and Booroloola there are some wet crossings so be sure to
check for recent rain and stream rises.

Had a mate just come through from
Darwin. Road is good. Just drive accordingly and most of all...carry 2 spares, have wheel bearings greased and ensure to alter tyre pressures to suit. Rain wont be a factor.
cheers

Came through that way on Tue/Wed, road is generally good, water levels in river crossings are low, there was no rain or wet spots any where, others were towing vans in both directions seemingly without problems. I towed an off road camper across with no problems. There was a local from a station towing a very old van of around 17 foot across and I saw him again after
Heartbreak Hotel so he did OK. As others have said just drive to conditions as you find them.
Cheers, Mark.
