I a loosing power and the vehicle is surging after approx 60 kms of travel. I have had the the vacuum valve replaced but the problem persists. After a restart I can get around 60ks and the car surges again with the engine light eventually coming on and shutting down the motor . Any have any clues?
Regard
Cobba

Buy yourself a scan Guage ,it will give the codes for any problems. Guage is approx $160 from eBay ,code definitions can be found on the Internet .You will then be in a position to diagnose any future problems

Hi Cobba
This happened to me only about 6 weeks ago. Was told it were 4 fuel injectors.
Engine made a knocking sound and I could only drive about 30 km.
Was towed to the Toyota dealer in
Broome to find out is was a fuse.
Good luck.
Tonny

To me, it sounds as if the vent sysem in your fuel tank may be blocked. When it stops again, open the fuel cap and see if a surge of air rushed in. If it does, that may be the problem. Also,
check the temperature gauge etc to see if something is overheating (I don't think this is the cause).

Check the earth wire for the fuel pump ECU. The wire can be loose or the bracket it is attached to can be broken causing intermittent interruption to fuel flow. This is one of the few possible causes that is easy and cheap to fix.
Good luck,
John

Unusual for a near new vehicle. What aftermarket mods have been done?

I am surprised the dealers cannot identify the problem from the fault codes. I assume you have had log book servicing by them and still in warranty period etc?

hi
if you have fuelled up prior to the problem occurring my guess is the filters are partly blocked with contaminated fuel starving the engine
clean or replaced filters are only good until the next lot of dirty fuel enters the system
all the best
