G'day,
I need some help. I have a GU Nissan Patrol. The passenger windows will not wind down, front or back.
They do not work from their individual switches or from the drivers main switch. The drivers window is operating normally.
The question is where do I start with this? or should I take it to an auto electrician to sort it out?
Thanks in advance, Cheers Pete.

These sorts of trouble shooting / fault finding issues can take a lot of time and cost big $$$ at auto elecs, so best to do a bit of searching yourself.

It sounds strange both LH windows front and rear are affected, do they wind up ok with the controls at all ?

A lot will depend on if they are operating at all, or if partially working.
Eg. In my old NF Pajero, the LHF winod winds down but not up.
This tells me there could be a switch contact problem (a bit of wriggling about, maybe a touch of WD40), or if I need to source and fit a 2nd hand switch, or look for a wire detached / damaged.

As both are not working, maybe the one harness feeds both doors, sometimes if one door elcs aren't working for whatever reason, this affects other door on circuit.

Maybe take your door trims off, find the motors, take plugs off and give a blow with compressed air (dust), light spray with WD40 or similar, reconnect and try.
With ignition on, have someone operate the switches while you use a multimeter to test light to see if there is power to the motor wiring connections.

Run power to the motor contacts to see if the motor(s) are shagged, but very unusual to have 2 go, unless thee was an issue with those doors being immersed at some stage and they got wet / corroded with time.

Do as much basic searching / power testing as you can (are comfortable with) as this might help reduce costs if you can eliminate some issues before taking it to a sparky.

Check your windows lock button is not depressed Pete.

It locks out the other 3 windows to stop kids operating them.

First up I would be looking at the master switch on the drivers switch panel (in front of the armrest) that controls the power to all the three windows you are having issues with. That is the one that turns them off so little fingers cannot play with the controls from their individual switches at each door. I guess you have checked that switch is not simply turned off. After that I would be checking that there is power going in and coming out of that master switch to feed the three windows you are having problems with. That switch panel on the drivers door comes out easily and if the master switch is faulty, with care, they can be disassembled, contacts cleaned and put back together again. Watch out for springs and balls when pulling it apart and if need be draw a diagram to assist re-assembly.
