Have camped at Hootens Crossing on the Clarence river for many years, last year my brother-in-law went to camp there and found several no camping signs had been put up. Can anyone shed any light on this please ?

Is this also known as "Lower Duck Creek?" There is a day use symbol for it on Wikicamps where Hootens Road crosses the Clarence. The site history goes back to where it was created on 17 Aug 13 and it shows day use the whole time.

Hi Peter, thanks for your response, as I said, I have camped here for several years, and have seen many people camping here in that time. I did not know it was intended as a day use only area.

I too used to camp there a couple of years ago.
i met the owner of the area once and he said he didn't have an issue with campers.
Perhaps someone has done the wrong thing and ruined it for everyone?

We just camped at Alice site on Sat night.
Plenty there camping, shown as camping site on most maps, no signs saying no camping.
Beaut spot, but signs in the local high banks of some testing their vehicles on the slopes and small sand hills around there unfortunately.
Heard bikes around too.
