How many times have we all brought useless ," never to be used in anger stuff" which ends up lying in the shed.

I say this , looking at 2 hi-lift jacks we have.

Well due some very embrassing circumstances , in which I have been blackmailed for , one of our cars slipped off the edge of very difficult wet track saturday.

It was impossible to get somewhere to winch it , and no rescue option appeared viable, even the tractor couldn't get within 50m.

However the car was only 2km from my "Shed" and someone remembered we had a hand winch once.

Sure enough, despite 10 years laying in the corner of the shed it was dragged out and an hour later it was operational and pulling the car sideways out of its nasty resting spot.

Rated at 3000kg pull, it was still a real struggle, 2 people, fitter than I, were required to operate it and the shear pin was damaged in the process.

Still , a never to be used again device finally proved its worth.

Unfortunately my wife has used this incident to justify keeping our bread making machine despite its 10 years of dust collecting.
