Just the stocky 245's Spark - I couldn't pick the first set - 80k with nairy a flat (and plenty of bush holidays). Going wider increases price a fair bit I think - $255 is plenty for a tyre IMO seeing they can be shredded in a moment (as done with a Kelly on the trailer, last trip -
Oodnadatta track - the Kelly was a much lower spec that the BF's but - bush types suggest that wider may be good for sand, but that's about it in reality - the wides get a lot more flats it seems. I get everything I want from the stocks - sand driving included.....I like to get in to those out of the way
places in the bush, even if it means creeping over moderate obstacles but I'm not into boulder crawling....I hate paying for vehicle repairs. ....I think they are a great tyre as is. Have done nought to the
suspension so far....might go some new shocks (oldies for spare), an R&R beadbreaker and a
snorkel for that "big trip"...if it ever comes ! Re clearance....I've not scraped my diffs yet - have scraped the transfer case though (that is a liability on the Jack - others in that class have theirs tucked right up and under)......but does it all matter ? I can drive right down to the bottom of the
Palm Valley track without scraping the transfer (being careful) so that'll do me - SWMBO refuses to go anywhere more wobbly than that track anyway !Regs.
