Whats the new navara like

Hi all- I have a friend who has a pratrol and wants to trade to a navara. His ask if I Can find info on the new navara 110kw4/4 dual cab Zd30 turbo engine and running gear ( Etc gearbox, diffs transfer case )
is the new model running the same drive train as previous models say1998 2002. He said the navara has the same engine as the pratrol so is the running gear strong enough to handle it also are there any known faults Thanks for all your help.

G'day Geoff,

There was a comparo for utes in 4WD Monthly (July 2002). Navara, Hilux and Bravo duallies tested, and Rodeo Crewcab(2dr). Unfortunately, they rated the Navara 4th overall. Comments were not overly critical, but in summary they did like it's sporty roadhandling, grunty 3L TD and articulation. They didn't like the small diffs and fuel economy. 4X4 Australia did a comparo in June, and had similar comments about the engine, but criticised the suspension (at odds with the other mag's results). I'd suggest your friend read both articles, do plenty of research, and take plenty of test drives! Good luck & cheers, Tony
