Depends on what sort of driving they do.

It will take you a while before you start to save money (the few grand from conversion)... by then the tax may have started

Bonz (Vic) replied:

It will be down on power, slightly, probably 8% or so, same with "economy" on gas, the car uses a bit more. But its a cheaper and cleaner fuel so you're better off there. As Truckster says up there ^^^^^^^^ its going to take some time to recoup your costs so depends on how far you drive and how quick you start to get n front. It'll start heaps better though. And another thing, make sure that the conversion is a good one such as IMPCO. I replaced my original gas conversion with an Impco one and got 30% better economy on a petrol 4.2 Patrol.

Thanks Bonz, he knows it's going to take a while to recoupe the $$s but I had an XG panel van on gas and I had to have the head taken of twice because of it letting water in to the cylinders (extra heat with gas they said). We wondered if the Nissans had any such problems.

The rumours about the tax on LPG have been around for years. I know a while ago there was a Govt policy statement detailing how long that no tax would be guaranteed. Check with the relevant dept.

I doubt it will ever happen, but that's just my opinion. The Taxi industry would be ruined.

My GU 4500i gas/ petrol gets 20-25 litres around town, lack of power not noticeable. Go for impco! had no problems with mine. 20,000-30,000 to pay for system.

The Tax will be 12.5% phased in at about 2008. Gas runs hotter if you wind up the fuel , opposite to petrol.
