No the GU has a round nut ( not hex) you will need a special tool with pins to turn them ,, or a hammer and small punch .

That depends on the year model. As said above some have a round locknut that is retained pins thru a hole in the nut. Mine has a f'n big nut and I have a spanner for it but have not measured. Can do if you don't get an answer soon.

Hi jamie,

Thanks for the offer I might take you up on it. Mine is a 2002 model, I made a tube spanner for the GQ and had hoped it would suit. If you get a chance to measure the spanner it would be appreciated, no rush.

Might have confused you due to my confusion!! The info I gave is for a GQ which you have the spanner for already. I have not looked at my GU bearings yet, 3000km so no surprise threre I suppose.

The later GQ had the round retaining nut thingamy so I suspect as the first reply states that the GU is the same?

Should have read the question better. Sorry mate.
