BIG HAUL HAND WINCH

Submitted: Monday, Aug 02, 2004 at 12:34

Baz (NSW)

I have a Big Haul H/winch and i had to use it for the first time a little while ago, well it didn't work or so i thought, reading the instructions it said to push the locking arm forward towards the winching arms to the lock position this may need some force and it did, feed wire in and then start winching, well aparently i have read these instructions wrong i failed to unlock the locking arm, unlocking it actually locks the wire cable in so as you can winch. I am such a drop kick, for those of you who are going away and only have a hand winch learn how to use it before you go anywhere so as you don't make the same mistake i did and it cost you mega $ to get out of the situation i got myself into.

A valuable lesson learnt !!

Baz.

Yes Barry, consider this

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,

And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation

oh and RTFM me old mate, I reckoned it should have worked

And Baz theres more...

To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will

At least of we read the instructions and use the thing we shall return from th' undiscover'd country.

I guess I was lucky I have been shown how to use a tirfor, remember, pull hard on the T shaped thingy, then let it go back to near resting place, then grunt and sweat under a weary life.

Tis the patience and wisdom of the Bard

Ya know for the life of me i cannot find anywhere in the flippen manual where it says put locking arm back in the unlock position or words to that affect, please someone who has one tell me where it is. Ya think i was annoyed when i was at Strathbogie not half as annoyed as i was yesterday when i dragged that winch out of the car after getting it back from those mongrels at City Ford, bunch of nohoping wankers.

Bonz..I think you're going to have to search hard to find an adequate Shakespear quote to describe the mongrels at City ford

Baz,

Just remember, pull hard against the spring until it locks "open", then feed the cable, then release the thing you pulled hard on until it closes back locking the cable. As for City Ford....

They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.

Baz I will take my one to Newnes and show you how it works. There are sooo many leavers to work.( I think there are 2) I can understand how you became confused.
I used my one last year for the first time and it took about 20 min of slipping in the mud to get the cable to feed in. Needless to add with a lot of colourfull lang to help it along.
