Rosie is for sale

Submitted: Monday, Aug 02, 2004 at 18:57

Willem

My favourite faithful old 'Rosie' Nissan G60 has to make way for a later model diesel version of whatever I end up with. I wanted to keep her but with two cars, a 4x4 and two trailers in the yard I got told by SWMBO. The trailer is included in the price. It is advertised in the Trader Section of this site. Now, don't you all rush at once....hahahaha

Hello Brian

Go to the Trader Ad and click on View where I have described all the details.

The truck is still being used and I am driving up Mt Gill in the Flinders Ranges this Thursday. The motor runs well, the gearbox is noisy at high speed (100plus) but has been like that for past six years. The doors and windows rattle, I have cleaned up all the rusty bits and fibre glassed them. The paint job is a 5 metre one( if you stand 5 metres away it looks good). The engine runs well and burns 1 ltre per 1000km. It has a leaky transfer output shaft seal. Leaks about a litre every 10,000km. Springs are reset and have greaseable bushes. Whole drive train is strong. Has 5 speed box. Dual batteries.

The trailer is a 1994 Modern Trailer Heavy Duty with 16inch wheels and converted to a bike carrier and I have converted it to a sleeping compartment. Has Treg hitch. Slipper springs.

No, No, No - don't do it.

Maybe the the Birdswood Museum would take her!
I saw on the news they had a Tom Kruze reunion - surely 'Rosie' deserves the same recognition?

It is always sad having to part with a favorite - my old '82 Jackeroo had good memories, it never let me down even though the motor was only good for about 120 000 kms. Just a motor a 4 wheels, the way bush cars should be!

Good luck with the new 'girlfriend'.

Hi Colin,

Rosie is only 26 years of age this month...so not quite Classic yet. It is actually in quite good condition and would be a fantastic project for someone to restore. I just don't have the time or inclination for it.

The next vehicle will be number 100 !!!!

You are underselling yourself by few grand here... thats worth WELL more than your asking.

I still say your askin too cheap. I'd go that price for car alone, then another similar amount for trailer.

You wont find ANYTHING close to that well setup for that amount of $..

Truckster,
Unlike some who just go up to the hills behind their back yard I need a truck with a large fuel capacity to go in to remore country and therefor I am looking for a truck with long range tanks already fitted. It has to be diesel and the other stuff is for convenience. Need something a tad more economical as well. Hope that nswers you question

Hey Ruth, maybe you should buy her and park her at the front of the CP :-)

It's where she deserves to "come to rest". Besides, you could probably hire her out to all the nancy-boys that drive their their 100 series to Birdsville but are afraid to take them out to Big Red LOL

I would love for someone to paint the deserts, the waterfalls, the billabongs, the rivers, the mountains, the beaches etc all around the vehicle. I know there is a bloke in Sydney who does this sort of thing with cars. Maybe I should get a 'graffitti artist' to spraycan the truck.

What do you think???

Actually, I reckon a mural of Birdsville and Big Red on Rosie, parked out front of the Gallery, or Ruth's place .... :-)

Rohan, brilliant idea. Have been thinking of buying her myself, because I'm getting too old to walk the entire park all races and I could put a flashing light on top of her and use her for a parking car - you know show the people to their spot etc. (especially when coming home from the Pub and can't remember where their swag is.) Wouldn't let a nancy boy anywhere near the old darling!!
Beware what you say about the 60's Rohan - it was a very good time (I was very young but had a ball whilst being a surfie chick - even in Hawaii - I rode the waves not the beach). Music was fantastic and I still get sick in the pit of my stomach every time I see those monster waves in hawaii, Tahiti etc - we didn't have waveriders then either.

LOL Ruth. I was very young too (not quite a teenager) so missed most of the fun. Mind you, I made up for it in the seventies but it was a very different decade.

For a surfie chick, you couldn't have put yourself much further from the surf, could you?
